US Approves $2 Billion Saudi Arms Deal as Iran War Escalates | Firstpost Live
The United States has approved a $1.96 billion weapons package for Saudi Arabia, aimed at strengthening the kingdom's air defences as conflict across West Asia intensifies. The deal includes 20,000 Advanced Precision Kill Weapon Systems (APKWS) designed to intercept drones, missile launchers and other fast-moving threats. The approval comes after renewed Houthi missile attacks on Saudi territory and amid Washington's expanding military campaign against Iran. It is also part of a broader American strategy to rapidly arm regional allies, including Israel, the UAE, Kuwait and Qatar. With previous approvals such as the sale of F-35 fighter jets already in place, the latest package highlights how escalating regional tensions are driving one of the largest waves of US military support to Gulf partners in recent years.
