Per esempio che Donald Trump non è la causa ma l'effetto di una crisi molto più ampia. Insomma, sto parlando della insostenibilità del mercantilismo globale basato sulla massimizzazione delle esportazioni e sulla svalutazione del lavoro. Chi mi segue sa che io scrivo queste cose da circa dieci anni.
Il debito degli Stati Uniti verso i principali esportatori mondiali, e cioè verso la Cina, la Germania, l'Unione Europea, il Giappone, ha raggiunto il 100% del PIL nel 2024, segno di uno squilibrio insostenibile. La working class americana, cioè la classe del lavoro americana, impoverita da decenni di concorrenza al ribasso, ha spinto Trump prima e poi Biden, ad adottare delle misure protezionistiche, dai dazi all'Inflation Reduction Act, fino alla guerra commerciale contro la Germania e contro la Cina.
