Thousands of residents of the small Caribbean island of Montserrat filled churches this Easter Sunday to pray for an end to the eruptions of the Soufrière Hills volcano, which could culminate in a massive explosion. Scientists at the Montserrat Volcanic Observatory said they are very concerned about the level of activity of the volcano, which erupted last week. More than 4,000 residents of the British Overseas Territory have had to leave their homes in the south of the island and are now in government-provided shelters.
