TIGER'S TEETH! [China Japan Super Go Match] Season 1 Episode 3
Japan had drawn first blood. After defeating Wang Jianhong in the opening battle, eighteen-year-old Yoda Norimoto—the Tiger—arrived in Beijing carrying a terrifying new weapon: the three-space high pincer. The Chinese team had spent two weeks studying it, yet still could not fully understand its mysteries.
Now China’s second player stepped onto the battlefield.
Jiang Zhujiu was fearless, relentless, and dangerously unpredictable. They called him **the Desperado**. And instead of running from the Tiger’s weapon, Jiang made an astonishing decision:
**He would use Yoda’s own move against him.**
On October 26, 1984, the two young warriors met inside Beijing Gymnasium. What followed was a dramatic battle filled with daring strategy, painful regrets, brilliant endgame play, and a finish balanced on the smallest possible margin.
Away from the board, another extraordinary encounter was also unfolding—one that offered Japanese legend Fujisawa Hideyuki an unsettling glimpse into the future of Chinese Go.
This was more than China’s attempt to stop Yoda’s winning streak. It was the moment Jiang Zhujiu began his transformation from an unknown young challenger into the first great hero of the China–Japan Super Go Match.
**The Tiger had opened his mouth.
Now the Desperado was walking straight in.**
