Alla stazione ferroviaria Palmiro #Togliatti, in periferia est, un cittadino egiziano di 30 anni, Mohammed, è intervenuto per difendere un conoscente da un tentativo di rapina ed è stato colpito ripetutamente alla testa con un cacciavite. L'uomo è morto al Policlinico Umberto I dopo otto giorni di agonia.
Il presunto responsabile, un cittadino gambiano di 28 anni con precedenti di polizia, è stato arrestato dagli agenti del Distretto Prenestino e della Polfer, individuato grazie alle telecamere di sorveglianza e alla testimonianza dell'amico sopravvissuto all'aggressione; l'accusa a suo carico è stata elevata da tentato omicidio a omicidio.
Del caso ha parlato Fabio Duranti ai microfoni di Un Giorno Speciale, prendendolo a esempio di quella che definisce una prassi ricorrente della stampa italiana: l'omissione, nei titoli, delle origini di chi si rende responsabile di reati violenti. "I giornali hanno avuto un ordine di non dire, soprattutto nei titoli di prima pagina, le origini etniche di chi commette questi reati molto gravi", sostiene il giornalista, mostrando in trasmissione uno screenshot di un articolo di Repubblica sul caso.
