Grazie alle telecamere e anche agli acquisti che ha fatto usando la carta di credito di una delle sue vittime, un 18enne di origini ucraine è stato arrestato dalla polizia a Milano con l'accusa di aver compiuto almeno tre rapine su bus e metro. La prima il 17 ottobre intorno alle 23.30, quando si è fatto consegnare un cellulare da un 29enne che si trovava su un bus della linea 50, minacciandolo e tenendo la mano in tasca come se avesse un'arma. Due giorni dopo, domenica 19, alle 6.30 si è avvicinato a un 23enne che stava aspettando la metro 4 alla fermata Frattini, gli ha puntato una lama al fianco e si è fatto dare l'iPhone, il codice di sblocco e anche dieci euro. Poi uscito, utilizzando applepay ha fatto spesa da un tabaccaio e in un supermercato. Mezz'ora dopo il diciottenne ha rapinato un suo coetaneo su un treno della M4 minacciandolo sempre con la lama, facendosi dare telefonino e codice di blocco, e costringendolo a scendere alla fermata successiva. Il giorno dopo ha poi contattato il 23enne, che aveva impostato il telefono da remoto in modalità smarrito, proponendogli di restituirlo in cambio di 150 euro. I poliziotti del Commissariato Porta Genova hanno analizzato le immagini dei sistemi di videosorveglianza della metropolitana linea 4 e dei negozi dove ha fatto spesa. Sono così riuscti a identificare e a rintracciare il diciottenne, regolare ma senza fissa dimora, il 28 ottobre in via Soderini, con addosso lo stesso cappello utilizzato per le rapine.
