Menurutnya, keempat pulau itu adalah sah milik Aceh dan harus dikembalikan.
Muzakir Manaf bahkan kini sudah berada di Jakarta untuk memperjuangkan secara langsung posisi Aceh di hadapan pemerintah pusat.
Ia dijadwalkan bertemu dengan Kementerian Dalam Negeri (Kemendagri) pada Selasa (17/6/2025) untuk membahas masalah tersebut.
Sikap tegas Mualem terhadap isu ini juga tampak dari pernyataannya yang disampaikan dalam rapat bersama Forum Bersama (Forbes) DPR/DPD RI asal Aceh di Pendopo Gubernur Aceh pada Jumat (13/6/2025).
"Tidak kita bahas itu, macam mana kita duduk bersama itu kan hak kita. Kepunyaan kita, milik kita!" kata Mualem.
"Wajib kita pertahankan. Mereka-mereka tetap (harus) mengembalikan pulau ini kepada Aceh," ujarnya.
Menurut Mualem, keempat pulau tersebut secara dokumen, historis, dan geografis adalah bagian dari Aceh.
Sehingga ia pun menolak tawaran Gubernur Sumut Bobby Nasution yang ingin mengelola empat pulau itu secara bersama.
Kepala Biro Pemerintahan dan Otonomi Daerah Setda Aceh, Syakir mengatakan, tim dari Aceh juga sudah menyusul ke Jakarta untuk memperkuat dukungan terhadap Mualem.
Juru Bicara Pemerintah Aceh, Teuku Kamaruzzaman juga mengonfirmasi bahwa Muzakir Manaf saat ini berada di Jakarta.
