Sie werden von Drogenkartellen bedroht. Es droht eine beispiellose Gewalteskalation im Bundesstaat Jalisco an der Westküste. Mehrere Aufnahmen, die in sozialen Medien kursieren, sollen die chaotischen Szenen auf den Straßen im Bundesstaat Jalisco zeigen. Grund für die Gewalt ist die Tötung eines der gefährlichsten Drogenbosse Mexikos. Die USA hatten auf den 59-jährigen El Mencho eine Belohnung von 15 Millionen Dollar ausgesetzt. Laut Medienberichten wurde der Drogenboss bei einer Operation der mexikanischen Armee getötet. Nach Bekanntwerden seines Todes reagierten Mitglieder des Kartells mit massiver Gewalt. Der Gouverneur des Bundesstaates Jalisco aktivierte daraufhin den Code Red, den Ausnahmezustand. In mehreren Städten des Bundesstaates, darunter Guadalajara und Puerto Vallarta, wurden Straßensperren errichtet. Die Bewohner werden zu besonderer Vorsicht aufgerufen.
