प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने कहा कि पिछली सदी में व्यापक भावनात्मक जुड़ाव के बावजूद वंदे मातरम् के साथ अन्याय हुआ। उन्होंने कहा कि इसका इतिहास युवा पीढ़ी के साथ साझा किया जाना चाहिए।
पीएम मोदी ने कहा, ‘वंदे मातरम् के टुकड़े करने के फैसले में नकाब यह पहना गया कि यह तो सामाजिक सद्भाव का काम है।
लेकिन, इतिहास इस बात का गवाह है कि कांग्रेस ने मुस्लिम लीग के सामने घुटने टेक दिए और मुस्लिम लीग के दबाव में यह किया गया। यह कांग्रेस का तुष्टीकरण की राजनीति को साधने का एक तरीका था।'
मुस्लिम लीग के विरोध और एम.ए. जिन्ना के रुख का जिक्र करते हुए पीएम मोदी कहा कि जवाहरलाल नेहरू ने सुभाष चंद्र बोस के सामने इस संदर्भ में चिंता व्यक्त की थी।
आनंदमठ ने इस गीत का दृढ़तापूर्वक समर्थन करने के बजाय यह तर्क दिया था कि इससे मुस्लिम भावनाएं आहत हो सकती हैं।
पीएम मोदी ने कहा, ‘वंदे मातरम्, सिर्फ राजनीतिक लड़ाई का मंत्र नहीं था। सिर्फ अंग्रेज जाएं और हम अपनी राह पर खड़े हो जाएं, वंदे मातरम् सिर्फ यहां तक सीमित नहीं था।
यह आजादी की लड़ाई थी, इस मातृभूमि को मुक्त कराने की जंग थी। मां भारती को उन बेड़ियों से मुक्त कराने की एक पवित्र जंग थी।’ (इनपुट-पीटीआई)
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday attacked Jawaharlal Nehru and the Congress Party over the "injustice" done to national song Vande Mataram. Initiating the marathon debate on Vande Mataram in Lok Sabha, PM Modi said Congress Party made compromises on the national song and former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru said promoting this could irk Muslims.
He said that this “compromise” was the biggest misfortune of the nation, as the Congress Party had bowed down before the Muslim League.
"It is unfortunate for the country that Congress compromised on Vande Mataram. They bowed to the Muslim League and decided to fragment Vande Mataram," he said.
