(Agenzia Vista) Il giornalismo libero è antidoto contro gli abusi, contro manipolazioni ad opera di poteri pubblici e privati, contro opacità e menzogne, consentendo la possibilità di formarsi un'opinione indipendente, basata su rigorosa rappresentazione dei fatti. Ogni oppressione, ogni manipolazione dei principi di libertà passa, anzitutto, dalla repressione contro i giornalisti. Non è un caso che i regimi più efferati provvedano subito a comprimere gli spazi della libertà di informazione, non appena viene posto in discussione il loro operato". Lo ha detto il presidente della Repubblica, Sergio Mattarella, ricevendo nel pomeriggio al Quirinale i partecipanti al 30° anniversario del Seminario di Venezia per la stampa britannica.
