Accusato dell'omicidio dell'ex fidanzata Chiara Poggi, uccisa nella sua villetta di Garlasco nel 2007, Alberto Stasi viene assolto sia in primo grado sia in appello per insufficienza di prove. La Corte di Cassazione nel 2013, però, annulla le assoluzioni e dispone un processo d'appello bis, disponendo nuovi accertamenti sulle prove. Nel 2014 la Corte d’Assise d’Appello di Milano condanna Stasi a 16 anni di reclusione per l’omicidio. Sentenza confermata in via definitiva dalla Cassazione nel dicembre 2015. Alberto Stasi sconta la pena nel carcere di Bollate. Si è sempre dichiarato innocente. Nel 2023 ottiene il lavoro esterno e nel 2025 gli viene concessa la semilibertà.
