Bár korábban a Fidesz és a pártalapítványa is kapott külföldi támogatásokat, a fideszes politikusok szerint ez nem jelenti, hogy a kormánypárt külföldi érdekeket szolgált volna. A parlament tavaszi ülésszakának nyitó ülésén Orbán Viktor újból belengette, hogy új törvényeket fognak alkotni a külföldi támogatásokat elfogadó szervezetekkel szemben.
