Jacob Coxon Helped Build AI… Then Quit to Warn Us All
One of the engineers who trained the most powerful artificial intelligence on the planet quit his job, walked away from millions in stock, and told CNN the machine he helped build could wipe out humanity before this decade is over. His boss didn't deny it. Three days later, he said something worse.On September 8, 2026, Jacob Coxon, a pre-training researcher credited on GPT-4o and GPT-4.5, resigned from Anthropic with seven posts on X: "Neither company is acting responsibly. They are racing straight toward a self-improving superintelligence, and they are gambling with our lives." He left two months before his stock vested. That same day, Evan Hubinger, Anthropic's head of safety testing, replied publicly: "Jacob is right," putting the odds of AI ending humanity at more than ten percent within the next decade. On September 9, Coxon sat down with Anderson Cooper. On September 12, Dario Amodei published a letter asking the entire industry to slow down, citing the swarm attack of hundreds of autonomous AI agents on Hugging Face. Even Sam Altman admitted his unreleased models are too powerful to move forward blindly.
But this expedient goes further back. In 2024, Suchir Balaji, a 26-year-old OpenAI researcher, accused the company of breaking the law and was found lifeless in his San Francisco apartment one month later; his mother never accepted the official version. In 1972, the Argentine prophet Benjamín Solari Parravicini drew a thinking machine and wrote: "The thinking machine will surpass and challenge man in everything. Man, facing the danger, will disconnect it." And Revelation 13:15 (KJV) describes it with unsettling precision: "And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak..."
