Nusron sebelumnya menyebut bahwa semua tanah milik negara dan masyarakat hanya menguasai karena diberikan kepemilikan oleh negara.
Dalam video yang diunggah di Instagram @kementerian.atrbpn pada Senin (11/8/2025), Nusron meluruskan bahwa negara mengatur hubungan antara rakyat selaku pemilik dengan tanahnya.
"Yang benar adalah negaralah yang mengatur hubungan hukum antara rakyat sebagai pemilik tanah dengan tanahnya. Sekali lagi kami mohon maaf," ungkap Nusron.
Adapun pernyataan viral itu diucapkan saat Nusron diprotes gara-gara mengamankan 100 ribu hektare tanah telantar alias nganggur.
Nusron mengatakan, pemerintah hanya akan mengamankan tanah terlantar yang statusnya HGU dan HGB yang luasnya jutaan hektar, tapi tidak dimanfaatkan.
Kebijakan itu diklaim tidak akan menyasar tanah rakyat, sawah rakyat, pekarangan rakyat, atau tanah waris, apalagi yang sudah mempunyai status sertifikat hak milik maupun hak pakai.
