Giulio Belletti - Finite dimensionality of the Kauffman bracket skein module - IPAM at UCLA
Recorded 13 October 2026. Giulio Belletti of the Université catholique de Louvain presents "Finite dimensionality of the Kauffman bracket skein module" at IPAM's Hyperbolic Structures and Quantum Invariants Workshop.Abstract: The fact that that skein modules of closed 3-manifolds are finite dimensional is a surprising result, first conjectured by Witten and later proven by Gunningham, Jordan, Safranov. Their proof, which works for any skein module, relies on heavy machinery in category theory and algebraic geometry. In this talk I will present a proof (joint with R. Detcherry) of finiteness for the Kauffman bracket skein module ”by hand”, i.e. in an algorithmic and constructive way, that relies only on basic properties of the KBSM. One of the advantages of this proof is that it allows, without any modification, to also prove a version of finiteness for manifolds with boundary. As an application of this latter result, we are able to prove that the peripheral ideal of any manifold is non-trivial, thus proving that the Reshetikhin-Turaev invariants are q-holonomic.

TubeReader video aggregator is a website that collects and organizes online videos from the YouTube source. Video aggregation is done for different purposes, and TubeReader take different approaches to achieve their purpose.
Our try to collect videos of high quality or interest for visitors to view; the collection may be made by editors or may be based on community votes.
Another method is to base the collection on those videos most viewed, either at the aggregator site or at various popular video hosting sites.
TubeReader site exists to allow users to collect their own sets of videos, for personal use as well as for browsing and viewing by others; TubeReader can develop online communities around video sharing.
