Penyebabnya tersangka dan istrinya yang juga ibu kandung korban cekcok.
Kasus tersebut terjadi di Desa Gombolirang, Kecamatan Kabat.
Tersangka adalah SR (33) asal Desa Kabaman, Kecamatan Srono. Sementara korban adalam MAT (11), beralamat di Desa Gombolirang.
Kapolresta Banyuwangi Kombes Pol Rama Samtama Putra menjelaskan, tersangka dan istrinya NIZ (32) memiliki masalah rumah tangga sejak sekitar 10 hari terakhir.
Sang istri yang sebelumnya tinggal bersama tersangkapun akhirnya pulang ke rumah keluarganya di Gombolirang.
Di sana ia tinggal bersama kedua anak hasil pernikahan dengan suami sebelumnya.
Sebelum pembunuhan terjadi, tersangka sempat datang ke rumah tersebut untuk membujuk sang istri agar mau pulang dan kembali tinggal bersama.
Namun, permintaan itu ditolak oleh istri.
"Di sana mereka terlibat cekcok," kata Rama, Minggu (29/6/2025).
Setelah peristiwa itu, sang istri pergi keluar dengan satu anaknya yang lain.
Sementara anak yang menjadi korban berada di rumah. Ia disebut sedang bermain.
"Di saat itu terjadi peristiwa pembunuhan. Pelaku masuk ke rumah korban. Dari olah tempat kejadian perkara sementara, pelaku masuk dan mematikan lampu menerangan," sambung Rama.
