Feuer in der Eifel: Flammen fressen sich durch 15 Hektar Wald
In der Eifel breitet sich seit Donnerstag im Kreis Düren ein Waldbrand aus. Der Hürtgenwalder Ortsteil Gey wurde seit der Nacht vorsorglich evakuiert, etwa 2.000 Menschen sind davon betroffen.In Nordrhein-Westfalen mussten wegen eines Waldbrandes in der Gemeinde Hürtgenwald etwa 2.000 Bewohnerinnen und Bewohner des Ortsteils Gey vorsorglich in Sicherheit gebracht werden. Hürtgenwald liegt im Westen des Bundeslandes, nahe der Grenze zu Belgien. Insgesamt leben in der Gemeinde in der Eifel knapp 9.000 Menschen.
Inzwischen ist die Evakuierung des betroffenen Ortsteils abgeschlossen, wie eine Sprecherin des Kreises Düren mitteilte. Für die Betroffenen wurde zunächst eine Anlaufstelle in einer Grundschule eingerichtet. Diese musste jedoch mittlerweile in eine Förderschule verlegt werden, weil in Straß mittlerweile die Belastung durch Asche in der Luft zu groß ist.
