Gleichzeitig eskaliert der Streit über den künftigen EU-Haushalt ab 2028. Bundeskanzler Friedrich Merz lehnt den Vorschlag von rund zwei Billionen Euro als zu hoch ab und fordert eine grundlegende Debatte über Einnahmen und Ausgaben. Während die Ukraine auf mehr europäischen Druck gegenüber Russland drängt, steht die EU vor schwierigen Entscheidungen über Sicherheit, Wettbewerbsfähigkeit und ihre finanzielle Zukunft.
