The legacy media is pressing Pierre Poilievre on how many defections it will take before he reconsiders his leadership, but he’s not budging. Pointing to record Conservative support and a recent leadership mandate, Poilievre says his authority comes from voters not backroom deals.Meanwhile, former Conservative MP Marilyn Gladu is defending her move to Mark Carney’s Liberals, arguing her constituents want cooperation with the government. Many in her riding aren’t buying it, accusing her of betrayal.
As more MPs consider crossing the floor, Liberal insider Evan Solomon insists it’s about “welcoming,” not recruiting, but admits conversations are ongoing. Even Doug Ford is signalling openness to a Liberal-led majority, downplaying partisanship in favour of collaboration.
