Diketahui insiden itu melibatkan sekitar 20 orang berpakaian bebas yang menyerang Polres Tarakan sekira pukul 23.00 WITA.
Akibatnya beberapa anggota polisi terluka, dan fasilitas polres mengalami kerusakan.
Kepala Penerangan Kodam VI/Mulawarman, Kolonel Kav Kristiyanto, membenarkan bahwa pelaku sudah dipanggil dan diperiksa Polisi Militer.
Menurutnya, informasi lebih lanjut mengenai jumlah oknum TNI yang diperiksa dan motif penyerangan masih dalam penyelidikan.
Ia juga menyatakan pejabat TNI telah berkoordinasi dengan Polda Kaltim dan Polda Kaltara untuk menangani kasus ini secara profesional.
Berdasarkan rekaman CCTV dan kesaksian, kelompok penyerang turun dari truk hijau dan merusak fasilitas Polres.
Sementara itu, saksi mata mengatakan bahwa penyerang membawa kayu dan balok.
Mengutip Kompas.com, lima anggota Polres Tarakan dilaporkan terluka akibat pengeroyokan.
Saat ini Polisi Militer tengah menyelidiki kasus ini dan memastikan akan menindak tegas setiap pelanggaran.
