Heavy Rains, Floods & Landslides Kill At Least 30 in Northeast India; Tourists Stranded In SikkimHeavy rainfall ravaged northeast India, triggering flash floods and landslides that killed at least 30 people across the region. In Sikkim, landslides left 1,500 tourists stranded, while a vehicle plunged into the Teesta River, killing 11. In Assam, mudslides buried several homes in Guwahati, killing five. Heavy rains also disrupted flight operations in Guwahati. Two others were killed in Golaghat and one in Lakhimpur. Arunachal Pradesh reported nine deaths amid landslides. Mizoram reported landslides at over 113 locations on May 31, which killed at least five. Meghalaya reported six deaths over the last two days due to flash floods and landslides. In Manipur, waterlogging brought Imphal to a standstill. Authorities have issued flood warnings. The Indian Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for Assam, and orange and yellow alerts for other parts of the region.
