Lo scorso 7 giugno, in occasione dei David di Donatello, Elio Germano — attore pluripremiato, fresco vincitore per Berlinguer – La grande ambizione — lo ha attaccato duramente: «Il ministro non rappresenta la cultura di questo Paese», «ci ha detto che tutto va bene, in modo bizzarro», «piazzano i loro uomini come fanno i clan». Un affondo durissimo, suggellato dalla frase: «Per fortuna c’è Mattarella».
Giuli ha risposto, parlando di «minoranza rumorosa che ciancia in solitudine». Ma la polemica, come spesso accade, è stata travolta dai fatti. Perché mentre gli attacchi rimbalzavano sui media, è scoppiato un caso talmente assurdo da sembrare uscito da una sceneggiatura rifiutata.
Il governo italiano — tramite il tax credit per il cinema — aveva erogato quasi un milione di euro a Francis Kaufmann, alias Rexal Ford, regista fantasma e oggi in arresto con l'accusa di duplice omicidio. Un uomo con passaporto falso, identità multiple, base a Malta e una vita fatta di bugie. Nessun film all’attivo, solo carte in ordine e un progetto fasullo chiamato Stelle della notte. Ma tanto è bastato.
A portare alla luce lo scandalo è stata un’inchiesta pubblicata da Open, che ha svelato i dettagli di questa truffa colossale. Ed è proprio alla luce di questa vicenda che, oggi, le parole di Giuli — ironizzate da Germano — suonano tutt’altro che infondate: perché mentre il mondo del cinema si difendeva dalle riforme, nel ontano 2020, un presunto killer intascava quasi un milione di fondi pubblici senza mai girare un minuto di pellicola.
