MITTELMEER: Iran-Konflikt verlagert sich aufs Meer – Fregatte Sachsen wird nach Zypern geschicktNach dem Einschlag einer Drohne iranischer Bauart auf einem britischen Stützpunkt auf Zypern erwägt die Bundesregierung, die Fregatte Sachsen ins östliche Mittelmeer zu entsenden. Ziel ist der Schutz des EU-Mitglieds Zypern und die Unterstützung von NATO-Partnern. Auch andere europäische Länder schicken Unterstützung, nachdem ein US-U-Boot eine iranische Fregatte im Indischen Ozean versenkt hat.
