9/11: 25 Jahre nach dem Anschlag! "Lange nicht am Ziel"! Warnung an Europa vor gefährlicher Schwäche25 Jahre nach den Anschlägen vom 11. September 2001 blickt der damalige Verteidigungsminister Rudolf Scharping auf die sicherheitspolitischen Folgen von 9/11. Deutschlands Beteiligung am Afghanistan-Einsatz hält er rückblickend für „uneingeschränkt richtig“. Zugleich fordert Scharping heute deutlich mehr europäische Eigenständigkeit: Europa müsse notfalls seine Sicherheit auch ohne die USA gewährleisten können. Bei der Bundeswehr sieht er Fortschritte – warnt aber vor großen Lücken, etwa bei Satelliten und Kommunikationssystemen.
