A Ignoto X, l'avvocato Cataliotti, legale della difesa di Andrea Sempio, ha sollevato un dubbio articolato sull'impronta 33, combinando le risultanze della BPA — l'analisi del pattern del sangue effettuata dai RIS di Cagliari — con quanto emerso nel processo a carico di Alberto Stasi. Il ragionamento parte da un dato: secondo la BPA, una mano sinistra insanguinata dell'assassino sarebbe stata appoggiata sulla schiena di Chiara Poggi, lasciando quella che viene indicata come impronta 33, ritenuta intrisa di materiale biologico. Su questo punto, Cataliotti non contesta le conclusioni tecniche. Il nodo, però, arriva dopo. Stasi, fin dalla sua prima deposizione del 13 agosto 2007, ha sempre dichiarato di aver trovato chiusa la porta che conduceva alle scale dove giaceva il corpo della ragazza, di averla aperta e di essersene andato per denunciare il fatto.
