Scientists Think Space and Time Are an Illusion

Scientists are beginning to question whether space and time are fundamental parts of reality at all.

Quantum entanglement showed that particles can remain correlated across enormous distances, challenging Einstein’s idea of local realism. Then physicists pushed the experiment into space. In the Cosmic Bell Test, light from quasars billions of light-years away was used to determine how entangled particles would be measured, closing one of the biggest remaining loopholes in Bell experiments. The results still supported quantum mechanics.
That leaves physicists confronting some deeply strange possibilities. Either reality is fundamentally nonlocal, space-time emerges from a deeper quantum structure, or everything, including our choices, was predetermined from the beginning.

Space and time may feel fundamental to us, but quantum physics suggests they might not be.
