Il termine tedesco «Melonisierung» è entrato nel dibattito politico per indicare, soprattutto nell’area dell’AfD, il timore che una forza di destra possa moderare le proprie posizioni una volta arrivata al governo. Il termine viene infatti utilizzato in Germania proprio con riferimento alla trasformazione della linea politica di Giorgia Meloni rispetto alle posizioni più radicali espresse in passato. A Otto e mezzo, Giovanni Di Lorenzo spiega così il significato della parola: «È una parola tedesca dispregiativa nei confronti di Giorgia Meloni da parte di AfD, vuol dire essere moderati una volta al governo».
