Pakistan launched overnight airstrikes on Afghanistan, targeting areas near Kabul and several Afghan border provinces, according to security officials. Reports confirm that four people were killed and more than a dozen injured after the bombardment hit residential areas in the Afghan capital.
Pakistan says the strikes targeted the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) militant group, which Islamabad accuses of using Afghan territory to launch attacks inside Pakistan. However, the Taliban government in Afghanistan has denied these allegations, claiming Afghan soil is not being used for militancy.
The strikes reportedly hit Kabul, Kandahar, Paktia, and Paktika, regions close to the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. The attack comes amid rising tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan, with recent border clashes disrupting trade and forcing thousands of residents to flee their homes.
According to the United Nations mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA), dozens of civilians have been killed in recent Pakistani military operations, while more than 115,000 people have been displaced due to escalating violence.
