Judge rules against NCAA, clears ex-NFL players to play for LSU
A Louisiana judge approved a preliminary injunction Thursday against the NCAA in a high-profile eligibility case. The ruling clears the way for LSU to list some former NFL players on its roster. This week, the Southeastern Conference sued LSU over its intent to put players who signed NFL contracts on its roster. The lawsuit states LSU recruited players who sought more college eligibility after the NCAA expanded eligibility to five years instead of the previous four.
Two of the players LSU intends to roster are Dae'Quan Wright and Zxavian Harris, both of whom played for Kiffin when he was the head coach at Ole Miss last fall.
The players are pursuing an extra year of college eligibility since the NCAA expanded eligibility from four years to five years in June.
