A complicare il quadro è arrivata l'inchiesta del Tempo, diretto da Daniele Capezzone, sui compensi della redazione di Report, la cosiddetta "Reportopoli", con querele annunciate dagli inviati del programma. Ai microfoni di Un Giorno Speciale, Alberto Contri, Antonio Amorosi e Fabio #Duranti hanno discusso non del merito giudiziario, ma del rapporto tra giornalismo e credibilità pubblica.
Il primo nodo sollevato riguarda la postura pubblica riservata a Ranucci. Alberto Contri si è chiesto perché figure come Paolo #Mieli frequentassero certi ambienti "e come mai non ce lo raccontano", concludendo che "viviamo tutta una grande ipocrisia" e invitando a "rinforzare la ricerca del senso critico". Fabio Duranti ha ripreso il tema notando come in udienza si sia arrivati a vedere "giornalisti che si spellano le mani davanti a un magistrato", un'immagine che a suo dire non dovrebbe mai verificarsi quando informazione e giustizia si incontrano. Duranti ha aggiunto che lo stesso schema si ripete anche in altri contesti istituzionali, segno di un più generale corto circuito tra osservatori e osservati.
