Around 25–40% of the weight loss experienced with Ozempic is muscle loss. Once you stop Ozempic and the weight returns, much of it is fat.

Most GLP-1 drugs work directly on the brain, essentially stopping hunger, while also slowing digestion. This means much of the weight loss from GLP-1s comes from simply eating less.

GLP-1 drugs can also leave you with nutritional deficiencies. Other Ozempic side effects include gastroparesis, acid reflux, vision loss, hair loss, diarrhea, and pancreatitis.

Muscle loss is one of the biggest concerns after taking Ozempic. To help prevent and correct muscle loss, focus on resistance training along with getting enough leucine, a key amino acid for muscle growth found in high-quality animal protein.

A low-carb diet paired with intermittent fasting is one of the healthiest ways to lose weight.
