Ben 10: Ultimate Alien: Cosmic Destruction is the new game that introduces the new alien heroes: Waterhazard, Armodrillo, Ampfibian, Terraspin, and NRG from the Ben 10: Ultimate Alien television series, allowing players to tunnel or beat through evil alien enemies, unleash water blasts, emit radiation beams, shoot electricity bolts and fire, wind attacks, and more, with a unique experience system which lets them upgrade alien attributes and abilities. The game also provides all-new game enhancements such as Quick Switch, which allows players to switch alien forms faster than ever, and Quick Time Events which creates a cinematic experience that guides players through fierce boss battles and challenging puzzle elements. Players will control Ben and up to 16 alien heroes including Ultimate Big Chill, Ultimate Spidermonkey, Ultimate Echo Echo, Ultimate Swampfire, Ultimate Humungousaur, Four Arms (PS3) and Rath (Xbox 360).
The game expands upon the Vilgax Attacks formula by making alien transformation much easier by switching between alien forms without the need to switch back to Ben - which was an unlockable secret in previous games, with players given a specific quartet of four aliens per level, three of which are required to perform tasks to progress in each level. Gwen acts as Ben's navigator in the game, teaching players the mechanics of the game and how to perform them, as well as their in-game applications. From defeated enemies and destroyed objects, health pickups and experience points will spawn, and the player can redeem the latter to increase aliens' stats (damage output, cooldown time) and increase the power of any of their four special attacks each. Certain specials can interact with the environment and are necessary to progress in levels, and have aftereffects which allow for continual damage on enemies and bosses, allowing for battle tactic creativity.
The health and Ultimatrix energy meters cannot be restored but the latter refills gradually or can be refilled by successfully damaging enemies and bosses. There is only one attack button which simplifies combat, and is comboable into specials. All forms can dash by blocking and then moving in any direction.
