Both nations have agreed to a truce lasting two weeks; for the next 14 days, neither side will engage in any bombardment against the other. As soon as news of the ceasefire emerged, an atmosphere of celebration swept across Iran. People have poured out of their homes in large numbers to celebrate, hailing this development as a victory for Iran. Regarding the ceasefire with Iran, U.S. President Trump stated in a written message that, based on his conversations with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir—and in response to their request that devastating military action against Iran be temporarily halted tonight—he has agreed to suspend bombing and attacks on Iran for a period of two weeks. However, this agreement is contingent upon the condition that the Islamic Republic of Iran consents to open the Strait of Hormuz fully, immediately, and safely. He added, "This will be a reciprocal ceasefire."
