A Otto e Mezzo, il programma di La7 condotto da Lilli Gruber, è intervenuto Ezio Mauro per commentare la controversa norma contenuta nel decreto sicurezza all'esame del Parlamento. Il provvedimento prevede un compenso di 615 euro per gli avvocati che convincono il proprio assistito migrante a rinunciare al ricorso e a tornare volontariamente nel paese d'origine, nel caso in cui la domanda di asilo non sia stata accettata. La misura ha suscitato reazioni trasversali: contestata dalle opposizioni, dalla magistratura e dagli avvocati stessi — molti dei quali avevano invece sostenuto il governo sulla questione del referendum costituzionale —, ha allarmato anche il Quirinale, che ha convocato il sottosegretario Mantovano. Le opposizioni hanno parlato di «nuovo assalto alla Costituzione» e di un governo «allo sbando».
