JAKARTA, KOMPAS.TV - Dalam 17 8 Tuntutan Rakyat hingga seruan sejumlah tokoh yang tergabung dalam Gerakan Nurani Bangsa, ada desakan kepada kepolisian untuk menghentikan tindakan kekerasan dan menaati SOP pengendalian massa yang sudah ada.Kapolri Jenderal Listyo Sigit Prabowo mengatakan ada hal mendasar yang memang perlu menjadi perhatian polisi dalam penanganan demonstrasi. Di setiap tahapan penanganan, aksi, khususnya yang menjadi perhatian publik, Polri terus melakukan evaluasi.
Terhadap pelanggaran SOP yang terjadi, kapolri menyebut akan melakukan penindakan terhadap anggota-anggotanya.
"Dan kita juga lebih senang apabila pendekatan yang kita lakukan pun juga pendekatan yang lebih humanis, pendekatan-pendekatan yang mengedepankan kegiatan-kegiatan yang bersifat dialog. Polisi menjaga ruang demokrasi. Sepanjang hal tersebut dilaksanakan dengan cara-cara yang tertib, karena memang Undang-Undangnya mengatur demikian. Unjuk rasa kita persilahkan bagaimana menghormati kepentingan masyarakat lain, juga Hak Asasi Manusia yang juga harus tetap kita jaga," katanya.
