BOMBSHELL U.S. allegations put spotlight on crime in Canada
U.S. prosecutors have unveiled explosive new allegations against former Canadian Olympic snowboarder Ryan Wedding, accusing him of running a sprawling, violent drug-trafficking organization and allegedly ordering the murder of a key witness.FBI director Kash Patel compared Wedding to a “modern-day Escobar,” claiming his network exploited Canadian ports, trucking routes, warehouses, and logistics chains while moving massive quantities of cocaine, meth, and synthetic drug precursors across North America and overseas.
At the same time, Ontario Provincial Police inspector Pat Morris warns that at least seven major transnational criminal gangs now operate inside Canada, embedding themselves in shipping and logistics systems much like the networks allegedly tied to Wedding.
Investigative journalist Sam Cooper joins Marc Patrone to break down the case, the cross-border implications, and why U.S. agencies say Wedding’s organization grew into one of the most prolific networks operating between Mexico, China, and Canada. Cooper explains how the alleged super-lab operations, money laundering channels, and cartel-linked partnerships went unchecked for years.
Plus, Ottawa and Alberta are reportedly closing in on a pipeline deal to the B.C. coast, as British Columbia retreats from its electric vehicle mandates.Meanwhile, new data shows Canada is struggling to retain high-skilled immigrants, with health-care workers, engineers, AI professionals, and executives leaving the country at sharply elevated rates, while low-skilled newcomers are far more likely to stay.
