USA: Trotz neuer Pannen! Joe Biden setzt Wahlkampf gegen Donald Trump weiter fortEin in der Debatte um seine geistige Fitness weiterhin unbeirrter US-Präsident Joe Biden hat im Bundesstaat Michigan um Wählerstimmen geworben. «Soviel dazu, dass meine Kampagne auseinanderfällt», sagte der 81 Jahre alte Demokrat bei einem Auftritt in Detroit.
Wie bereits bei der Pressekonferenz nach dem Nato-Gipfel ließ sich der Präsident keine Selbstzweifel anmerken. Er wolle und werde seinen republikanischen Herausforderer Donald Trump erneut schlagen, machte Biden deutlich. Seine Rede las er dabei von Telepromptern ab, improvisierte nur wenig. An einer Stelle schien er den Faden zu verlieren, lenkte aber schnell mit einer Anekdote davon ab.
Rückzugsforderungen reißen nicht ab
Am selben Tag hatte sich die Schauspielerin Ashley Judd in einem Meinungsbeitrag bei «USA Today» der Forderung ihres Hollywood-Kollegen George Clooney nach einem Rückzug Bidens aus dem Rennen um die Präsidentschaft angeschlossen. Judd bat Biden darum, Platz zu machen für einen «talentierten und starken Kandidaten». Dies falle ihr als überzeugte Demokratin nicht leicht.
