Thousands of children in Malaysia are growing up invisible — undocumented, marginalized, and locked out of the education system before they ever set foot in a school. As co-founder of Buku Jalanan Chow Kit, Cikgu Siti Rahayu has spent years proving that real learning begins in communities, homes, and the spaces we build for children long before formal schooling begins. Her talk is a powerful call to dismantle the barriers that decide which children deserve a future. Cikgu Siti Rahayu Baharin is a dedicated educator, social activist, and co-founder of Buku Jalanan Chow Kit (BJCK), an initiative providing structured homeschooling and a safe activity center to undocumented and marginalized children. In her upcoming talk, "Education Begins Before the Classroom," she will explore how true learning starts within our communities, homes, and foundational environments long before a child steps into school. She holds a Master's in Political Science from IIUM, serves on the Malaysia Teacher Prize evaluation committee, and is a leading policy advocate.
