Terkait dengan gagasan yang dibahas, pemimpin politik Hamas, Ismail Haniyeh telah berbicara pada Qatar dan Mesir selaku mediator.
Perkembangan ini terjadi saat Israel memerintahkan 250 ribu warga Palestina untuk pergi dari Khan Younis.
Sebagaimana diketahui, negosiasi gencatan senjata antara Hamas dan Israel tak pernah menemui titik temu.
Netanyahu bahkan menyatakan bahwa perang tak akan berhenti hingga Israel menang atas Hamas.
