(LaPresse) - Tra il 23 e il 24 marzo 2025, in circa 26 ore, il telescopio spaziale Euclid ha scattato la più grande e dettagliata foto della via Lattea mai realizzata con "più di 60 milioni di stelle" insieme "a nebulose e ammassi stellari". Lo affermano in una nota l'Agenzia Spaziale Italiana (ASI), l'Istituto nazionale di astrofisica (Inaf) e l'Istituto nazionale di fisica nucleare (Infn), tre degli enti italiani che partecipano al programma scientifico Euclid dell'Agenzia spaziale europea (ESA). L'immagine è il "mosaico di nove 'puntamenti'" della "fotocamera a luce visibile" del telescopio spaziale, ognuno dei quali copre una porzione di cielo più grande della Luna piena, e permetterà agli scienziati di "confermare l'esistenza di pianeti extrasolari trovati in questa regione e misurarne la massa utilizzando le minuscole variazioni della luce stellare nel tempo".
