NTSB investigates deadly NBC4 helicopter crash in Los Angeles
The NTSB and FAA are investigating after an NBC4 news helicopter crashed in Chatsworth, California, killing three people.Investigators are now examining the wreckage as they work to determine what caused the deadly crash.
Live video recording engine audio and pilot warning tones is currently the most critical evidence, while officials also examine maintenance logs, local security camera footage, and fire-damaged components.
NTSB officials noted safety recommendations could be issued to regulators if operational hazards are identified, while criminal murder charges are pending against the SUV driver in the initial bus collision.
The helicopter was covering a nearby fatal bus collision when it went down Tuesday evening.

The impact claimed three lives: pilot George Marciniw and aerial reporter Eliana Moreno aboard the aircraft, and 29-year-old pedestrian Edy Gutierrez Mejia on the ground.
NBCLA officials lost contact with their air crew around 7 p.m. and confirmed the loss live on air by just before 8 p.m.
The aircraft, a Eurocopter AS 350 B2 helicopter, suffered substantial damage, according to the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB).
