Gachagua, who was impeached in October last year on charges of inciting ethnic divisions, cut short his trip to the US and returned to Kenya to campaign for the upcoming local by-elections. His arrival at Kenya's international airport was met with hundreds of supporters, leading to clashes with opponents and police using tear gas to disperse the crowds.
