Am 30. Mai 1992 wird der sechsjährige Michael aus Sanne, einem kleinen Dorf in der Altmark, entführt. Eine Frau meldet sich bei der Kripo in Stendal und erzählt, dass sie den Jungen an einer Ampel in einem blauen Opel Kadett mit Celler Kennzeichen gesehen habe. Die Ermittler aus Sachsen-Anhalt fahren daraufhin nach Niedersachsen und hören dort von ihren Kollegen, dass zwei Monate zuvor in Celle ein neunjähriger Junge unter ähnlichen Umständen entführt und dann missbraucht und getötet worden ist. Für die Kriminalisten stellt sich die Frage: Hängen beide Fälle zusammen? Haben sie es mit einem Serientäter zu tun? Können sie Michael lebend finden?
