A company posted record profits. Demand never fell. Its products had a waiting list. And the stock still fell 60%.That is not a fundamentals story. It is an ownership story — and it is the single most expensive lesson I learned from my own portfolio in 2026.
In this video I break down a trade I took in SK Hynix, why I exited in June, and what actually caused the collapse that followed. The answer had nothing to do with the company's balance sheet. It had everything to do with who owned the stock, and how much of it was bought on borrowed money.
This matters far more to Indian investors than it looks. India's Margin Trading Facility book is now above ₹1,49,000 crore — up from ₹24,920 crore in FY23. Over the last twelve months the Nifty 50 returned about -4%, while that borrowing grew 65%. Index down, leverage up. And unlike hedge fund equity swaps, this data is published by NSE and BSE every single day. It is not hidden. Almost nobody looks at it.
We cover why price follows ownership rather than earnings, where leverage is actually visible before a crash, why forced sellers always dump their best assets first, and why correct analysis and a profitable outcome are two completely different things.
