Sachsen-Anhalt könnte nach der nächsten Landtagswahl erstmals einen Ministerpräsidenten der AfD bekommen. Wie sollte die Politik mit einem solchen Szenario umgehen? Thüringens Ministerpräsident Mario Voigt beantwortet diese Frage überraschend deutlich: Einen demokratisch gewählten Ministerpräsidenten würde er respektieren, sagt er. Einen Ausschluss aus der Ministerpräsidentenkonferenz lehnt Voigt ab. "Die AfD weiter in so eine Opferrolle suhlen lassen, halte ich nicht für klug." Zugleich sei es aber auch logisch, dass sich die Zusammenarbeit zum Beispiel im mitteldeutschen Raum anders gestalte.Im Gespräch mit Malte Pieper geht es außerdem um die historischen Wahlschlappen für die CDU und die miserablen Umfragewerte von Bundeskanzler Friedrich Merz. Thüringens Ministerpräsident fordert eine politische Kursänderung und warnt vor einem "Weiter so". Das Reden über Reformen dürfe sich nicht anfühlen "wie der nächste Zahnarztbesuch", sagt Voigt. Statt Kürzungsdebatten brauche es eine überzeugende Zukunftserzählung. Seine Botschaft an die CDU: Die Union müsse jetzt "den Kampfanzug anziehen".
