Syria’s President Sharaa Plays Basketball In US After Removal from Terror List | Firstpost LiveSyria’s President Ahmed al-Sharaa arrived in Washington for a landmark visit, the first by a Syrian head of state since 1946. His arrival came a day after the US removed him from its terrorist blacklist, signalling a dramatic shift in ties. Once affiliated with al-Qaeda, Sharaa’s group, Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham, was delisted by Washington in July. On Sunday, he met Syrian-American representatives and was seen playing basketball with US military officials. Sharaa is set to meet President Donald Trump at the White House to discuss cooperation against ISIS and Syria’s reconstruction efforts.
