Pengakuan ini muncul beberapa hari setelah sebelumnya Trump mengklaim serangan tersebut sangat berhasil dan mampu melumpuhkan kemampuan nuklir Iran.
Sementara itu Menteri Pertahanan AS, Pete Hegseth mengatakan bahwa sejauh ini belum ada bukti pasti mengenai skala kerusakan yang dihasilkan.
Ia juga memuji Iran yang cukup canggih dalam menyembunyikan fasilitasnya.
“Bisa jadi kerusakan tidak sebesar yang diharapkan. Iran cukup canggih dalam menyembunyikan fasilitasnya,” ujar Hegseth.
Diketahui situs-situs nuklir Iran seperti Fordow dikenal berada dalam gunung dan memiliki perlindungan berlapis.
Hal ini yang menyebabkan situs nuklir Iran tak bisa hancur dalam sekali serangan saja.
Seorang peneliti bernama David Albright juga mengatakan, jika memang benar-benar rusak parah maka Iran akan kesulitan mengaktifkan kembali sentrifugalnya.
Namun hingga kini tak ada bukti terkait hal itu dan seakan menandakan bahwa fasilitas nuklir Iran tidak mengalami kerusakan yang signifikan.
Sejauh ini Iran juga belum memberikan tanggapan resmi terkait klaim kerusakan dari AS maupun pernyataan Trump.
