Sayembara ini muncul setelah sejumlah ulama tersebut mengeluarkan fatwa yang menyerukan pembunuhan pada Donald Trump dan Perdana Menteri Israel Benjamin Netanyahu.
"Hadiah kepada siapa pun yang membawa kepala Trump," tulis Iran International, media oposisi yang berbasis di Inggris.
Emami sendiri merupakan ulama dari Provinsi Azerbaijan Barat di Iran barat laut.
Bahkan mereka juga menggalang dana untuk pembunuhan Trump, agar bayaran bagi yang berhasil bertambah banyak.
Fatwa yang menyerukan pembunuhan Trump dan Netanyahu telah mendapatkan dukungan dari sekitar 10 ulama Iran lainnya dan menarik penggalangan dana secara daring.
Selain Mansour Emami, Alireza Panahian, Ayatollah Shirazi, dan Ayatollah Hossein Noori Hamedani adalah deretan ulama terkenal yang telah mengeluarkan fatwa semacam itu.
Fatwa untuk membunuh Donald Trump maupun Netanyahu sendiri muncul, setelah AS menyerang fasilitas nuklir Iran bulan lalu.
Sebelum ancaman pembunuhan Trump ini, ulama senior Ayatollah Agung Naser Makarem juga sudah mengeluarkan fatwa yang menyatakan bahwa siapa saja yang mengancam pemimpin Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei adalah musuh tuhan.
