RAV DAVID MESSAS (1934-2011) 🇲🇦 🇫🇷 Grand Rabbin de Paris

Né à Meknès en 1934 dans une illustre lignée rabbinique marocaine, le Grand Rabbin David Messas fut l'un des grands bâtisseurs du judaïsme francophone du XXe siècle.

Dans ce témoignage émouvant, son fils Rav Ariel Messas nous dévoile le portrait d'un homme hors du commun : à la fois diplômé en philosophie et psychologie, directeur d'écoles juives au Maroc puis en France, Grand Rabbin de Genève, puis Grand Rabbin de Paris de 1995 à sa disparition en 2011.

Héritier de la profonde Torah marocaine, il fut un pont naturel entre la tradition séfarade et la communauté parisienne — côtoyant les plus grandes figures rabbiniques tout en restant profondément humble, au plus près de ses fidèles.

Chevalier de la Légion d'Honneur, Grand Officier du Ouissam Alaouite, il repose aujourd'hui à Jérusalem, aux côtés de son père, le Grand Rabbin Chalom Messas זצ"ל, ancien Grand Rabbin de Jérusalem.
