Hasil penyidikan menunjukkan terdapat 7 orang tahanan yang diduga terlibat pengeroyokan, sebanyak 6 orang tahanan ditetapkan sebagai tersangka.
Selain itu, Propam Polda Bali juga memberikan sanksi etik kepada 3 anggota polisi jaga yang diduga lalai dalam menjalankan tugasnya, yaitu melakukan pengawasan Rutan Polresta Denpasar.
Tersangka AI (35) diduga tewas karena tindak kekerasan oleh para tahanan lainnya.
Jenazah kemudian dievakuasi ke Rumah Sakit Umum Pusat Prof dr IGNG Ngoerah Denpasar.
